Songs of the week - January 28, 2009

Hey thanks for reading my blog's first post. I hope you enjoy it and hopefully learn something new. This first post is short and I sort of rushed through it because I wanted to test my blog account. Today it is about my three songs of the week.

Today (January 28, 2009) I have three songs already lined up that I strongly suggest you check out.

Each one of these video I recognized for their great artistic adaptation and usage in film whether it be a commercial or music video. I see this as important due to how film and music directly influence culture and I take notice to when the two work together fluidly.

The first Beggin' by Madcon. Back when I was hanging in the MIA I heard this song on the radio (Power 96.5) and noticed its real great funk feel combined with its great beat. I found out it was recently used in an adidas comercial which I think uses the song well. Now while I like the commercial, I am not too crazy about the actual music video.

The second is Invaders Must Die by The Prodigy. This great ensemble of the old prodigy feel combined with some new synth tracks makes for a great song. The music video, availible for free on Xbox Live, uses various signs and abstract art in the image of a spider to convey a message: "All invaders must die". The song is not out yet, but I've got the hook up to give it to you or free! Download and crank it up.

The third is Don't Touch Me by the one and only Busta Rhymes. He brings the old school mix back with this new song and music video with a flourish of just crazy funny clips and rhyme spitting. Its a sick song that will get you remembering the old days when old school hip hop was not always about sex, cars, and money and seeming to try to be cool and serious all the time. It was more about having a good time and getting crunk. Unfortuantely I can't embed the video here (dam you Universal) but I can give you a link to it.
